The past decades have witnessed great advancements in technology. However, some people complain that the technology complicates our life rather than simplifies it. To be honest, I disagree with this opinion.

Admittedly, the advent of high technology inevitably results in some negative influence. The application of modern technology means not only advantages of being time- saving and labor- saving but also unemployment. A typical example is the invention of robots, which may pose a potential threat to the job opportunities of blue-collar workers. Moreover, it is a frustrating experience for some people, especially senior citizens and illiterate ones, to operate the modernized, complicated machines.

Nevertheless, a quick look at the facts will show a different picture. What modern technology brings is not anxiety but limitless convenience and blessings. Compared with the updated technology, the ancient instruments were more labor-consuming. For example, it always took several professional accountants more than dozens of days to figure out a complex mathematical problem in the ancient times, however, with the help of calculator, even a pupil is able to give immediate solution to this problem. The toughness of taking carriages to another city is always beyond our wildest imagination, the extreme exhaust always erode people’s passion to travel. By contrast, the inventions of plane and trains not only save passengers’ time but also adds flavor to their life. Additionally, The prevalence of modern technology also makes it possible for people to keep in frequent contact with others. Instead of writing by hand and waiting ages for the arrival of letters, people could send photos or messages to their families or friends instantly with the aid of high technology.

In conclusion, the significance of technology can never be overemphasized; it not only liberates people from endless labor but also expands their vision. Therefore, there is no possibility for people to return to the old times to experience the simple but difficult life.
